How Sandy Spring CSA works
CSA members and farmers are in partnership. Members provide the upfront capital for the farmers and share in the bounty. Unlike at the grocery store, CSA members pay the farmer directly. Your CSA payment covers salaries, seed, equipment, delivery, etc.
In exchange, each week throughout the growing season, the farmer delivers individual, pre-packed portions of the weekly harvest (called shares) to our pick-up locations in Kensington, Rockville and Sandy Spring, Maryland. It’s like a private farmers market. This year our Spring/Summer CSA will run from May 12 through September 29.
A share feeds two-four adults. Some vegetarian households require more than one share. Shares may be split among two or more people or two or more households. Members bear responsibility for divvying up the share.
Sandy Spring CSA members come from Ashton, Aspen Hill, Bethesda, Brookville, Chevy Chase, Columbia, Ellicott City, Gaithersburg, Kensington, Olney, Rockville, Potomac, Sandy Spring, Silver Spring and Wheaton.
